A journey from the interior of a volcano to the world of volcanoes. This is what the new Espai Cràter, the Center for Volcano, Science and Social Benchmarking, offers to the public. Located inside the Puig del Roser volcano in Olot, the new building offers a fully interactive exhibition, created by Indissolve, suitable for all ages, from the origin of the universe to the present, explaining the Garrotxa volcano and the rest of the volcanic world.

The different exhibition areas are arranged in several large prismatic steel structures, reminiscent of the basalt columns we found in the Roca Castle. These structures contain various display elements such as screens, figures, models, interactive games or projections.

Each structure corresponds to an exhibition area: Earth, volcanoes, volcanic materials, volcanic research, environmental movements, landscape richness and the relationship between human activities and territories.

In the center of the room we find a 15 square meter model of a Garrotxa fragment, at a scale of 1:6000, made by 3D printing. On this surface, video maps tell the evolution of the territory from 80 million years ago to the present from a geological, biological and social perspective.

A wall within the chamber disappeared, revealing a large slope of gravel walls, revealing the guts of Roselle Volcano. On top of this gravel, a video simulating the formation of a volcano was projected.

The visitor experience begins with an immersive video that takes them deep into the depths of the Puig del Roser volcano, and ends with another immersive video where they can experience the eruption as if they were inside the lava chamber. During the visit, users can check what they have learned and understood from the exhibition through a quiz game provided by the four totems placed in the room.
