MAT超级建筑事务所参与了《清明上河图3.0》数码艺术展的《开放之城》主题展览,展示了他们对北宋东京城市空间格局的研究成果。在北宋时期,随着城市小商业的兴起,基于城市管理的规划方式——里坊制逐渐走向崩溃。坊制的消亡带来了城市小商业的繁荣和城市生活的丰富多彩,原本作为居住功能的封闭建筑院落也迅速自发转变为可以容纳多种商业业态的开放空间。
AT Super Architecture participated in the "Open City" themed exhibition of the "Qingming Riverside Map 3.0" digital art exhibition, showcasing their research results on the spatial pattern of Tokyo during the Northern Song Dynasty. During the Northern Song Dynasty, with the rise of urban small businesses, the planning method based on urban management - the neighborhood system - gradually collapsed. The disappearance of the neighborhood system has brought about the prosperity of urban small businesses and the richness and diversity of urban life. Closed buildings and courtyards, which were originally intended for residential purposes, have also rapidly and spontaneously transformed into open spaces that can accommodate various commercial formats.

通过对宋画《清明上河图》的深入阅读和研究,MAT超级建筑事务所试图将画作中的街道和建筑进行平面绘图转译,并用当代建筑学的分析视角来解读从坊制建筑空间到城市公共空间的自发式、渐进式的转化过程。他们还通过模拟画作中丰富的人物活动来还原北宋市坊融合之后的城市日常生活场景。
Through in-depth reading and research on the Song painting "Along the River during the Qingming Festival", MAT Super Architecture Office attempts to translate the streets and buildings in the painting into flat drawings, and interpret the spontaneous and progressive transformation process from square architectural spaces to urban public spaces from the perspective of contemporary architecture analysis. They also simulated the rich character activities in their paintings to recreate the urban daily life scenes after the integration of the Northern Song Dynasty's urban neighborhoods.

MAT超级建筑事务所创作了一个长6米、宽3米、高3米的空间装置,以宋画《清明上河图》中的“彩楼欢门”为原型。在这幅画中,“彩楼欢门”出现在酒肆门口,通常为二层高的门楼,由竹子绑扎而成,象征着“空中楼阁”的意象,成为酒食店的标志。
这个空间装置采用了大量在中国传统木作营造体系中不常见的斜撑、三角支撑以及绳索绑缚等方式。通过这种结构,他们试图还原宋代建筑中“彩楼欢门”的形象,以展示北宋城市空间格局的特征,并将其呈现在展览中,以此突出他们的研究成果。
MAT Super Architecture Firm has created a spatial installation that is 6 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 3 meters high, based on the "Colorful Tower Huanmen" in the Song painting "Along the River during the Qingming Festival". In this painting, the "Colorful Tower Huanmen" appears at the entrance of a tavern, usually a two-story gate tower tied with bamboo, symbolizing the image of a "castle in the air" and becoming a symbol of a restaurant.
This space device uses a large number of slant support, triangular bracing and rope binding methods that are not common in the traditional Chinese wood construction system. Through this structure, they attempted to recreate the image of "colorful buildings and happy doors" in Song Dynasty architecture, showcasing the characteristics of the urban spatial pattern of the Northern Song Dynasty, and presenting it in exhibitions to highlight their research achievements.

MAT超级建筑事务所对“彩楼欢门”的当代性设计转译十分巧妙:他们放大了构建元素中的“斜撑”,并通过螺栓将小型的竹钢构件上下交错连接,最终呈现出一个悬浮于地面的“云”装置。这个装置的中间留出通道,用来悬挂北宋东京城市开放布局研究的绘图成果。
在实施过程中,他们在工厂将竹钢构件组装好,然后在展览现场进行纵向连接和斜撑连接,既提高了精确度,又节省了现场作业时间。
这个展览装置不仅仅是对“彩楼欢门”的回应,更是通过临时性和装置性传递出城市活力。同时,“云门”也作为公共功能的空间象征,为展览增添了一种公众参与的可能性。
MAT Super Architecture Office has ingeniously translated the contemporary design of "Colorful Building and Huanmen": they enlarged the "slant support" in the construction elements, and connected small bamboo steel members up and down through bolts, finally presenting a "cloud" device suspended on the ground. A passage is left in the middle of this device to hang the drawing results of the study on the open layout of Tokyo during the Northern Song Dynasty.
During the implementation, they assembled the bamboo steel components in the factory, and then carried out the longitudinal connection and slant support connection at the exhibition site, which not only improved the accuracy, but also saved the on-site operation time.
This exhibition installation is not only a response to the "Colorful Louhuan Gate", but also conveys urban vitality through temporary and installation. At the same time, "Cloud Gate" also serves as a symbol of public function space, adding a possibility of public participation to the exhibition.
