2023年国庆前夕,第二届世界设计之都大会在上海开幕,我有幸受邀与金地8号桥共同策展本次大会的分展场“桥见设计节”,展览为期一个月。我们面临着双重挑战:一方面需要在短短一个月内完成从策展、设计到搭建的全部工作,另一方面需要思考展期结束后如何将现场的搭建再利用为办公空间。
我们将展览的主题定为“视而不见的城市”,并与城市影像策展品牌SEETY合作,设立了8个细分展区。通过公众影像征集的方式,我们用几组影像切片管中窥豹,展现上海在城市更新中所经历的改造、升级与发展,以及城市环境和居民生活的品质提升。我们希望通过展览,让人们感受这座国际都市旺盛的迭代能力。
On the eve of the National Day in 2023, the Second World Design Capital Conference opened in Shanghai. I was invited to co curate the sub exhibition venue "Bridge View Design Festival" with Jindi No. 8 Bridge, and the exhibition will last for one month. We are facing a dual challenge: on the one hand, we need to complete all the work from curation, design to construction in just one month, and on the other hand, we need to think about how to reuse the on-site construction as office space after the exhibition period ends.
We have set the theme of the exhibition as "Blind City" and collaborated with SEETY, a city image curation brand, to establish 8 segmented exhibition areas. Through public image collection, we use several sets of image slices to glimpse the leopard, showcasing the transformation, upgrading, and development experienced by Shanghai in urban renewal, as well as the improvement of urban environment and residents' quality of life. We hope to showcase the vibrant iterative capabilities of this international city through exhibitions.

考虑到时间和预算的限制,以及现场机电设备纵横交错的情况,我们决定将天花上的机电设备视为装置的一部分,而不是试图将其与设计融合。这样做不仅能够节省时间和成本,还能够创造出独特的展览氛围,使展览更具有艺术性和观赏性。
Considering time and budget constraints, as well as the crisscrossing of on-site mechanical and electrical equipment, we have decided to consider the mechanical and electrical equipment on the ceiling as part of the installation rather than attempting to integrate it with the design. This not only saves time and costs, but also creates a unique exhibition atmosphere, making the exhibition more artistic and ornamental.

为了与城市更新的展览主题相呼应,并且考虑到后期需要将展览空间转换为办公空间的需求,我们提出了“拆解和重塑”的设计策略。我们选择工业铝型材作为基础构建材料,这种材料方便组装且可以叠加不同的材料以适应不同的策展内容。在底部安装福马轮后,展览空间还能够灵活移动,增加了使用的灵活度,同时空间的边界也更容易进行变化和拓展。这样的设计方案既能够满足展览的需求,又能够为后期的办公空间转换提供便利。
In order to correspond with the exhibition theme of urban renewal and considering the need to convert exhibition space into office space in the later stage, we propose a design strategy of "dismantling and reshaping". We choose industrial aluminum profiles as the basic building material, which is easy to assemble and can be stacked with different materials to adapt to different curatorial content. After installing the Fuma Wheel at the bottom, the exhibition space can still move flexibly, increasing the flexibility of use, and the boundaries of the space are also easier to change and expand. This design scheme can meet the needs of the exhibition and provide convenience for the later conversion of office space.

展览墙体分为两种,外圈限定了空间的范围,内圈则划分和围合出了8个展区。展览结束后,我们可以通过移动内圈的3组隔断,形成一个前台和休息区。另外,内圈的两组短隔断重新组装后,就可以自然地形成办公室。这种设计使得从展览到办公的切换变得轻松且高效,为空间的多功能利用提供了便利。
The exhibition wall is divided into two types, with the outer ring limiting the space and the inner ring dividing and enclosing 8 exhibition areas. After the exhibition, we can create a front desk and rest area by moving three sets of partitions within the inner circle. In addition, after reassembling the two sets of short partitions in the inner circle, an office can be naturally formed. This design makes the transition from exhibition to office easy and efficient, providing convenience for the multifunctional utilization of space.

考虑到常规铝型材长度为3米,为了减少材料损耗,并结合现场高度考虑,我们设计了整个框架的尺寸为深度350mm*高2650mm。在这个尺寸下,我们设计了4种框架模块,分别是两种形式的基础框架、挂画框架和置物框架。这样的设计既能够有效地利用铝型材,减少材料浪费,又能够满足展览的需要,并且易于安装和移动。
Considering that the length of conventional aluminum profiles is 3 meters, in order to reduce material loss and take into account the height of the site, we have designed the dimensions of the entire frame to be depth 350mm * height 2650mm. At this size, we designed four types of frame modules, namely two forms of basic frame, hanging frame, and storage frame. This design can effectively utilize aluminum profiles, reduce material waste, meet the needs of exhibitions, and is easy to install and move.

为了让无窗的空间不显得压抑,我们在外圈框架的外层使用了双层阳光板。这样做的目的是在满足一定私密性的前提下,让空间的边界变得若隐若现。这样的设计引发了一种“你站在桥上看风景,看风景的人站在楼上看你”的暧昧与浪漫感觉,使整个空间充满了神秘和想象的空间。
In order to prevent the windowless space from appearing oppressive, we used double-layer sun panels on the outer layer of the outer frame. The purpose of doing so is to make the boundaries of the space appear and disappear while maintaining a certain level of privacy. This design creates an ambiguous and romantic feeling of 'you stand on the bridge to see the scenery, and the person watching the scenery stands upstairs to see you', filling the entire space with mystery and imagination.

铝型材所搭建的框架,在安装了船型螺帽和吊环之后即可演变成挂画框架。展览结束后,只需拆卸挂画的构件,根据需求增加铝型材龙骨,再叠加层板,便可成为置物框架。这种设计方案方便快捷,能够在展览结束后迅速转换空间功能,充分利用了铝型材的灵活性和可塑性。
The frame constructed with aluminum profiles can evolve into a hanging frame after installing ship type nuts and lifting rings. After the exhibition is over, simply dismantle the components of the hanging paintings, add aluminum keel according to the needs, and then stack the layer boards to become the storage frame. This design scheme is convenient and fast, and can quickly switch spatial functions after the exhibition, fully utilizing the flexibility and plasticity of aluminum profiles.

在“听音识城”展区,我们在框架外层蒙上了单层阳光板,这样的设计旨在让观众通过耳机里的城市声音,尝试识别出影像所处的城市区域。在影像的展览中,我们又叠加了一层声音的传播,使观众在观赏城市景观的同时,也能够感受到城市的声音氛围。这样的设计创意将城市的更新不仅仅局限于视觉上的体验,还将声音作为一种重要的元素加入其中,使观展者能够更加全面地感知城市的变化和发展。
In the "Listening and Understanding City" exhibition area, we have covered the outer layer of the frame with a single-layer sunlight panel. This design aims to allow the audience to identify the city area where the image is located through the city sound in the headphones. In the exhibition of images, we have added another layer of sound propagation, allowing the audience to not only enjoy the urban landscape, but also feel the sound atmosphere of the city. This design concept not only limits urban renewal to visual experiences, but also incorporates sound as an important element, allowing visitors to have a more comprehensive perception of the city's changes and development.

在“拼贴城市”展区,我们进行了一项挑战升级的设计。我们选取了3个城市区域的前后变迁照片,每张照片分割为24片拼图。每片拼图的正面展示往昔的城市景观,背面则展示现在的景象。通过这样的设计,我们让观展者在组装拼贴的过程中,亲身感受城市更新的今昔变迁。这种互动式的展示方式不仅让观众更加深入地了解城市的发展历程,也增加了展览的趣味性和参与性。
In the "Collage City" exhibition area, we conducted a challenge upgrade design. We selected photos of the changes before and after three urban areas, and each photo was divided into 24 puzzle pieces. The front of each puzzle displays the urban landscape of the past, while the back displays the current scenery. Through this design, we allow visitors to personally experience the past and present changes of urban renewal during the assembly and collage process. This interactive display method not only allows the audience to have a deeper understanding of the city's development process, but also increases the fun and participation of the exhibition.

在展览的尾声,我们设置了礼品区“拎走魔都”,礼品袋中装有几张上海的城市更新影像。这些影像是城市发展的几个典型切片,我们希望观众在拎走这几个瞬间的同时,也能够通过本次展览,让心目中这座蓬勃奋进的城市更加鲜活和可爱。这样的设计不仅能够给观众留下深刻的印象,也为他们带来了一份珍贵的礼物,使展览的意义延续在观众的日常生活中。
At the end of the exhibition, we set up a gift area called "Take away the Magic City", with several images of Shanghai's urban renewal in gift bags. These images are several typical slices of urban development. We hope that while the audience takes away these moments, they can also make this vibrant and lovely city in their hearts through this exhibition. This design not only leaves a deep impression on the audience, but also brings them a precious gift, allowing the significance of the exhibition to continue in their daily lives.
