By reconstructing the industrial remains, could we reconcile with the past it represented, and bring our vision of what this site could be into its current life.

北京首钢工业园区始建于1919年，由民国北洋政府筹资建设，距今刚好一百年整。历史的车轮滚滚而过，历经国有化，大炼钢铁，改革开放，产业转型，08年奥运会的整体搬迁等一系列变迁后，2022年北京冬奥会的申办成功，为首钢园区的改造建设正式拉开了大幕。

Originally stablished in 1919 under the regime of Republic of China , Shougang industrial park has reached its 100 years. As the storm of history propels, Shougang stood through up-and-downs during nationalization, the great leap, economic reform and industrial transformation. Entering the new century, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was a major push to assess public spaces and urban life in current context and the forthcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics led to another round of rethink of what this site could mean for this ever-growing city.

新首钢园占地8.63平方公里，是目前世界上正在进行中的最大城市更新项目。园区的大量制铁工艺相关工业遗存如原有三号高炉、冷却塔、热电厂、精煤车间等工业建构，承载着大量的在地集体记忆，它们的改造更新标志着原有园区从工业性向城市性的彻底转变。三号高炉博物馆水下展厅及D馆空间，作为撬动整体改造的首批重要示范项目，是其中最典型的代表。高炉博物馆和D馆具备独一无二的工业废土美学基因，作为多维度的历史切片集合，室内设计团队在对工业遗存充分尊重的同时为其赋予新的语境，在巨大的工业空间中以叙事性的方式重构，打造出耳目一新又似曾相识的工业赛博穿越场景。

A massive 8.63 kilo-square meters, it is the biggest site ever going through an urban renewal. The density and scale of the industrial remains on site, such as the blast furnace, cooling tower, power plant etc, are equally monumental, both dimension wise and in symbolic sense. The turning of Shougang site into public space marks an important beginning, however while history progresses, it should never be rewritten. During the restoration and renovation of Blast Furnace NO.3 and Exhibition Hall D, the original structures were carefully conserved as cultural heritages, additional under ground spaces were thoughtfully put in, views created while visitors circle in the park, each designed to represent a page of important history of Shougang.

三高炉博物馆水下展厅分镜头 “钢与火的穿越重生。”——剧本大纲设定为炼钢意象与钢水奔涌的穿越场景。水下展厅位于首钢园的秀池中央，沉隐于水面之下，室内中轴线由水下展厅，甬道和功勋柱组成。水下展厅空间主体是清水混凝土的大构建，中心点是圆形天井，与通透的中庭形成质感上的强烈对比。

"The rebirth of steel and fire through time travel." - The outline of the script is set as a time-travel scene with the image of steelmaking and the rushing of molten steel.derwater exhibition hall is located in the center of the show pool of Shougang Park, hidden under the water. The indoor central axis consists of the underwater exhibition hall, corridors and merit columns. The main body of the underwater exhibition hall is a large structure of fair-faced concrete, with a circular patio at the center, forming a strong contrast in texture with the transparent atrium.

铁与火。我们对三号高炉水下展厅的愿景是将铁水流经高炉的意象转化为画面，而在这个场景中，连续运行的红色 LED 灯穿过空间，连接玻璃包围的中庭的中心走向具有强烈方向感的功德柱。展厅主体采用现浇混凝土建造，围护结构形成一条通道，周围覆盖着粗糙纹理的水泥板。

Iron and fire. Our vision for the under water exhibition hall at Blast Furnace NO.3 translates the imagery of molten iron runs through the furnace, while in this scenario, a continuous run of red led light cutting though the space, connecting the center of the glass embraced atrium to the Pillar of Meritorious with a strong sense of direction. The body of exhibition hall was built with cast concrete and enclosure forming an passage around it was cladded with coarsely textured cement panels.

D馆是进入三高炉本体前的序厅空间，建筑设计为此赋予了一系列具有工业感的外立面钢结构及精密节点。室内设计团队在这个连续的上升空间里，用接近钢材原石的色彩和材质继续加强整体的体量感。钢楼梯由地面交错延伸到高炉底部的空间，路径曲折，蜿蜒而上，形成更强的时间递进感。钢楼梯底部用灯光和钢构制造悬浮感，坡面铺满铁矿石，剧本大纲的设定正在于此——”如果你也是一颗被运往高炉的小矿石。

D Hall is the lobby space in front of the three high furnace body, and the architectural design has endowed it with a series of industrial style exterior steel structures and precision nodes. The interior design team continues to enhance the overall sense of volume in this continuous upward space by using colors and materials that are close to steel raw stones. The steel staircase extends from the ground in a staggered manner to the space at the bottom of the blast furnace, with a winding path that winds upwards, creating a stronger sense of time progression. The bottom of the steel staircase is suspended with lights and steel structures, and the slope is covered with iron ore.
