「LOG ING—— 登入元宇宙」为2022 台湾设计展主展馆之一,团队有幸受邀策划。展览包含3 大区域:「未来的历史」、「未来的交界地」和「Metakao」,引领观者理解元宇宙的定义、现况以至于元宇宙实现时的可能情景。
"LOGING——Logging into the Metaverse" is one of the main pavilions of the 2022 Taiwan Design Exhibition, and the team was honored to be invited to plan it. The exhibition consists of 3 major areas: "Future History", "Future Junction" and "Metakao", leading viewers to understand the definition of the metaverse, the current situation and the possible scenarios when the metaverse is realized.

1969 年10 月29 日的晚上,加州大学洛杉矶分校的研究生在萤幕前敲下了「login」五个字母,传送给位在史丹佛大学的另外一台电脑。但仅送出「lo」二字,系统就因不堪负荷而当机。这是人类史上两台电脑间首次的传输,而Login 也就成为了登入网路的用词。
今天,我们在数位设备上无止尽的滑动Instagram,在虚拟荒野里逃杀生存,在线上空间开会与学习。凝视萤幕的时间,可能早已超越真实世界。
此刻的我们正在时代的交界;地球上最顶尖的头脑和企业汇集成巨大的力量,试图用科技把人的意念、五感以至于整个社会,一点一滴的搬运到虚拟的境地。人类将更全面的投身数位,超越身体、屋瓦、国界的局限,期望实现前所未有的自由。
LOG ING为Login与Logging的组合字,象征人类透过「网路」、「运算」与「纪录」往虚拟之地迁徙的过程——迁徙到一个或许比现在更美好、更混乱、更奇观式的所在。这个不断更迭的想像国度,我们称其为元宇宙。
INTRO
元宇宙既然是人类在虚拟生活的终极状态,我们认为其样貌不会,也不应仅是彰显数位科技的存在,而是有温度和人文感的。因此在展区的起点,我们刻意舍弃科技主题常见的萤光色,使用温暖的橘色长廊打造出抽象空间,隐喻元宇宙的未知和人性的一面。
On the night of October 29, 1969, a graduate student at UCLA typed the five letters "login" on the screen and sent it to another computer at Stanford University. But just sending the word "lo", the system crashed due to overwhelm. This is the first transmission between two computers in human history, and Login has become a word for logging into the Internet.
Today, we swipe Instagram endlessly on digital devices, escape and survive in the virtual wilderness, and hold meetings and studies in online spaces. The time spent staring at the screen may have already surpassed the real world.
At this moment, we are at the crossroads of the times; the top minds and enterprises on the earth have gathered a huge force, trying to use technology to transfer people's ideas, five senses, and even the entire society to the virtual world bit by bit. Human beings will devote themselves to digital more comprehensively, transcend the limitations of bodies, roof tiles, and national boundaries, and expect to achieve unprecedented freedom.
LOGING is a combination of Login and Logging, which symbolizes the process of human beings migrating to virtual places through "network", "computing" and "recording" - migrating to a place that may be better, more chaotic, and more miraculous than it is now where. This ever-changing imaginary realm, we call it the Metaverse.
INTRO
Since the metaverse is the ultimate state of human beings in virtual life, we believe that its appearance will not, and should not, only show the existence of digital technology, but have warmth and a sense of humanity. Therefore, at the starting point of the exhibition area, we deliberately abandoned the common fluorescent colors in the theme of science and technology, and used warm orange corridors to create an abstract space, which is a metaphor for the unknown and human side of the Metaverse.

未来的历史
元宇宙是什么?有人说它是线上游戏,有人说它是虚拟实境的延伸,有人说它是下个世代的网际网路,人们对于虚拟的想望总在时代之中演进。此区有两座以纱作为载体的装置,第一座播放1962 至今,各种探究虚拟世界的经典影集、电影、发表会的影像片段。身处在层层的影像之中,就像我们对于元宇宙的感受——介于现实跟超现实之间、可及与不可及之间。
Future history What is the metaverse? Some say it is an online game, some say it is an extension of virtual reality, some say it is the Internet of the next generation, and people's desire for virtuality is always evolving in the era. There are two installations with yarn as the carrier in this area. The first one plays video clips from various classic albums, movies, and presentations that explore the virtual world from 1962 to the present. Being in the layers of images is like our feeling of the metaverse - between reality and surreality, between accessible and unreachable.

定义你的元宇宙
元宇宙既未实现,其定义也非一家之言。第二座装置呈现抽象的动态影像;宛如有生命的黑影,持续以AI 语音诉说元宇宙的定义。这些定义来自各方观者的参与,每个人对于元宇宙的观点,都能成为展出的一部分。
Define your metaverse The Metaverse is neither realized nor defined by anyone. The second installation presents abstract dynamic images; like a living black shadow, it continues to tell the definition of the metaverse with AI voice. These definitions come from the participation of various audiences, and everyone's views on the Metaverse can become part of the exhibition.

前往未来的准备
距离「Metaverse」这个单字首次出现,已经过三十年。在这期间,每个家庭都有电脑了,接着手机可以上网了,然后冰箱可以连线了,最近Elon Musk的大脑资料上传云端了。人类对于「投身虚拟」投注了无比的心力,而且还在持续中。区探讨要在虚拟世界自在生活,所需的技术与条件;举凡AR、VR 和MR 等体感装置、网路运算与传输量、区块链与NFT等,都是实现元宇宙的要件之一。
Preparing for the future Thirty years have passed since the word "Metaverse" first appeared. During this period, every family has a computer, and then the mobile phone can be connected to the Internet, and then the refrigerator can be connected. Recently, Elon Musk's brain data has been uploaded to the cloud. Human beings have invested incomparable efforts in "devotion to the virtual", and it is still going on. This area discusses the technologies and conditions required to live freely in the virtual world; all somatosensory devices such as AR, VR and MR, network computing and transmission capacity, blockchain and NFT, etc., are one of the elements for realizing the Metaverse.

未来的交界地
此区展示现今生活中的元宇宙实例。3个虚实交错的主题场景包含身份、娱乐和教育,展示目前与元宇宙有关的应用,实际感受未来的生活样貌。
观者可在现场透过3种体验装置、6款面向的内容,实际用「身体」感受现下最靠近元宇宙的内容,包含HTC 旗下的元宇宙平台VIVERSE、日本插画家山本修授权IP开发的密室脱逃游戏《猫・美术馆:画中有画》,以及台湾插画家黄色书刊的NFT 公仔等等,观者可以在场景中进一步用AR 与VR 探索,发现元宇宙才能实现的奇异想像。
Future border This section presents examples of the Metaverse in modern life. The 3 virtual and real themed scenes include identity, entertainment and education, showing the current applications related to the metaverse, and actually feeling the future life.
Viewers can use 3 kinds of experience devices and 6 types of content on the spot to actually use their "body" to experience the content closest to the Metaverse, including HTC's metaverse platform VIVERSE, Japanese illustrator Osamu Yamamoto authorized IP development The room escape game "Cat Art Museum: Paintings Within Paintings", as well as the NFT dolls of Taiwanese illustrator pornographic books, etc., viewers can further use AR and VR to explore in the scene, and discover the strange imagination that can only be realized in the metaverse.

Try It! 窥看未来
除了视线可及的实体展示,此区也对应主题场景,设有4 个AR 体验。在空间中找到特殊材质的海报,再用手机扫描,就能用Web AR 看见叠加在空间中的奇异世界。
Try It! peek into the future In addition to the physical display within sight, this area also corresponds to the theme scene, with 4 AR experiences. Find a poster with a special material in the space, and then scan it with your mobile phone, and you can use Web AR to see the strange world superimposed in the space.

Metakao
Metakao是Meta与Takao,也是Me与Takao。探讨在元宇宙实现之时,人际关系、社会制度、身份认同会如何演变?此区以沉浸式投影结合地形装置,隐喻高雄临海的意象。脱离日常的场景画面与身体感,让视觉、内容、体感融合成为独有的观展经验。
此区也与台湾线上媒体品牌BIOS Monthly合作。元宇宙实现之时,你我的生活样貌、日常行为都可能完全不同于此刻。BIOS monthly邀集包含法律专家、哲学推广者、视觉创作者、小说家等58位各领域名人,共同探究虚拟世界中的奇想与议题。同时,所有观者也能在现场透过手机参与,让想法成为即时资讯呈现在展场环境中,共同改变数位造就的风景。
Metakao Metakao is Meta and Takao, and also Me and Takao. Explore how interpersonal relationships, social systems, and identities will evolve when the metaverse is realized? This area uses immersive projections combined with topographical installations to metaphorize the image of Kaohsiung's waterfront. Breaking away from the daily scenes and physical sensations, the integration of vision, content, and physical sensations becomes a unique viewing experience.
This area also cooperates with Taiwan's online media brand BIOS Monthly. When the metaverse is realized, your life and daily behavior may be completely different from the present moment. BIOS monthly invites 58 celebrities in various fields, including legal experts, philosophy promoters, visual creators, and novelists, to jointly explore the whims and issues in the virtual world. At the same time, all viewers can also participate on the spot through mobile phones, so that ideas can be presented as real-time information in the exhibition environment, and together change the landscape created by digital.
